Deep clean vs end of tenancy clean
Both are much more thorough than a regular clean. The main difference is the goal: an end of tenancy clean is built to pass a check-out inspection in an empty property, while a deep clean refreshes a home you are living in.
End of tenancy clean
- Done in an empty property after you move out
- Follows the check-out inventory, inside every cupboard and appliance
- Usually 4 to 6 hours for a professional team
- Best for tenants, landlords and agents between lets
Deep clean
- Done in a lived-in home, working around furniture and belongings
- Targets built-up grease, limescale and dust
- Usually 3 to 5 hours for a professional team
- Best for spring cleans, moving in, before guests or after illness
Which one do you need?
- Moving out of a rental: end of tenancy clean
- Moving into a new home: deep clean or end of tenancy clean before unpacking
- After building work: an after builders clean, which deals with fine dust
Common questions
Is an end of tenancy clean the same as a deep clean?
No. They cover similar tasks, but an end of tenancy clean is done in an empty property and aims to match the check-in inventory, while a deep clean works around a lived-in home.
